Hello, I’m Amber Hullibarger, LMFT #114285, founder and clinical director of Amber Hullibarger & Associates.
I graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 2014 with a degree in Psychology and began my career at San Luis Obispo County Behavioral Health, where I worked from 2013–2016 and again from 2018–2019. My time there gave me deep experience supporting individuals and families navigating significant challenges, and it rooted me in the values of community mental health.
Between 2016–2018, I lived abroad in Central America, where I taught English and expanded my understanding of cultural diversity, resilience, and the universal need for connection. Those years reinforced my belief that healing happens through relationships — both within ourselves and with others.
In 2019, I opened my private practice, bringing together my training, clinical expertise, and passion for making therapy more accessible.
Why I Created This Clinic
I founded Amber Hullibarger & Associates because I saw a gap in services for Medi-Cal clients. While county behavioral health programs provide critical care, they often focus on the most severe cases. Many individuals and families with Medi-Cal coverage were left without accessible, ongoing, and supportive therapy options who did not qualify for County services.
This clinic is my way of giving back to the community — creating a space where Medi-Cal clients can find quality and compassionate services that meet them where they are. My team and I are committed to reducing barriers and providing therapy that is both affordable and affirming.
